Terrible first-time experience with Booking.com

First time Booking.com user and I booked a few days at The Taj in Cape Town for my birthday. 3 months later they cancel my booking, are unwilling to give me any other room or date at The Taj. Instead they offer me a very slight discount at a worse establishment. What a terrible experience and one that I will unfortunately remember for a long time.
