On Saturday, 3 January 2026, we made a reservation via Booking.com for accommodation at Hallensteins Guesthouse in Britstown (also referred to as Head Office WWJD equals L & J). The reservation number is ***, and payment was successfully processed at 21:50. Please note the following concerns: 1. Unauthorized Date Change We did not request or authorize any modification to the booking dates. However, it appears that the reservation was altered to 11–12 January 2026 sometime between 22:01 and 02:21. This change was made without our consent, and the cancellation terms were also modified. Currently, the system indicates that the free cancellation period has expired, which is incorrect as the original booking remains valid. 2. Property Misrepresentation and Condition We arrived at the provided address on 4 January 2026 and contacted the listed number, reaching Mr. Louis van Deventer, who provided unclear and excessive information. Upon arrival, the reality of the property was shocking and unacceptable. o The listing advertised a spacious family room with amenities such as a tea/coffee maker, wardrobe, private bathroom with bath and shower, heating, terrace, and sleeping arrangements for multiple guests (2 beds and 3 futons). o In reality, the property is dilapidated, in extremely poor condition, and does not match the description or photos on Booking.com. There was only one single bed, which is entirely unsuitable for four adults. The overall state of the building raises serious concerns about safety and hygiene.
