Their information is also very misleading information on the website states you have a free cancellation for a refund, then when you book and receive the confirmation email it states you cannot cancel and there will be no refund. Lost R 3000 because of a situation out of our control. Don't seek any understanding from their side when it comes to personal matters. To sum up my experience, booking.com wants money and that is all that counts, honestly that was the only thing that was clear and definitely not in the way they communicate their policies or the impression they give you on their website.
