HOSTS - Beware of booking.com's commission policies and system flaws

BEWARE of BDC's ************ autocratic behaviour toward hosts. Recently I had a guest book my apartment at the last minute, and cancel it a short while later. BDC did not provide me with credit card details of this client for me to bill them and the platform OBVIOUSLY would not let me mark them as no show because they had legitimately cancelled. I raised an objection to the BDC charges on my bill for this client but BDC have insisted I pay them commission for giving me nothing but a headache. Now they have blocked my account because I informed them that I was not going to pay them commission that was not due to them as I had neither received a guest nor any means of receiving payment from the guest for cancellation which in all fairness was done by the guest within the free cancellation time of his booking. Their system is flawed and they are not prepared to even check the problem, let alone fix it, apologise for the frustration, inconvenience and loss of business this has caused me, and simply reverse the incorrect charges on my account. They threaten me with prosecution if I do not pay them from an email address that does not receive replies, did not answer to my last notice of intent not to pay them for absolutely valid and legitimate reasons and now they has blocked my account. BEWARE. Is this the type of company YOU want to do business with? To reduce the risk of this happening to you, make sure you do not allow bookings to be made at least 3 days before arrival, do not accept manual credit card processing remotely (this can be reversed up to 6 months later), insist that BDC process your payments (IF YOU STILL TRUST THEM NOT TO DEDUCT DISPUTED COMMISSIONS LIKE THIS AUTOMATICALLY FROM YOUR PAYMENTS) and make sure that you can process BDC's "virtual credit card" which is ALSO a manual transaction that can be reversed up to 6 months later, which in my opinion is once again putting the trust in the wrong peoples hands again judging by this experience of min with them. Whoever made this decision on their behalf is an autocratic ***.
