Horrible Accomodation at Luwandla 12 St Lucia KZN
Booked an accomodation at Luwandla 12, St Lucia, KZN. Had a terrible experience with the establishment and host. The key for the front gate broke off in the lock. The key was given to us bent by the host. The locksmith told us that the gate had already been giving them multiple problems in the past. The host expects us to pay R480 for the call-out for the locksmith even though its their fault. After we had completed our stay she informs us that we were supposed to push the gate and then turn the key. That is unacceptable as the gate was already faulty and should have been fixed before our arrival. We were also charged R35 for a replacement key. The freezer doesn't work and goes off on its own. If it was only going off during loadshedding it wouldn't have been an issue. We had 11kgs of bait which was almost R800 that we couldn't use or take the remainder back home because it had gone off and turned mushy. We were not informed before arriving that there is no water when there is loadshedding. This makes having a bath and washing dishes very difficult. This was a fishing trip so the mornings and nights we were on the beach. Some of the first things you want to do after going back to the chalet is to have a shower and eat.
We were charged R200 for cleaning, on arrival the host told us that the price included cleaning there was no power and water at the time of departure so we could not clean up properly, there was no refuge bags for us to dispose ******* so how were we suppose to clean. We were told there is an inverter we can use. It does not work. There are not 2 sets of bunk beds in 1 room as shown on booking.com. 1 set of bunk beds are in the lounge. The air-conditioner in the bedroom with 2 single beds does not work. There is a small portable fan but it's doesn't help. The pool is a very small communal pool so either try find a time that the pool is empty or be prepared to stay in more or less the same spot when there's other guests in the pool. Dont bother trying to watch TV as the TV is old and needs to be replaced. No key to lock the bathroom doors. There is only 1 remote for the gate which makes it difficult to coordinate as we had a couple cars. The pictures on booking.com is very deceiving example looking at pictures it u would think that it's a free-standing house and the pool is in the backyard but it's actually in a complex and it's a communal pool. We were never told about the gate being faulty and we need to push the gate and turn the key as a result the key broke and now we being charged R480 for the callout, we were never informed before the host called the locksmith that there would be a charge for our account if we were informed we would of sorted out the problem on our own since the locksmith didn't install any new locks etc or use any of his own tools. We were told there's an inverter for when power goes out but that never worked, we were never told that when power goes out we will also not have water due to them having a JoJo tank and pump that won't work when power goes down. We are being charged extra now for cleaning of dishes and freezer etc but we were unable too due to no water and the freezer being faulty all of our bait went off and was spoilt (bear in mind we had to bear the cost of that bait).
I would not recommend this property to anyone due to the conditions we had to deal with and the manner in which the host dealt with our problems. I seriously suggest booking.com investigates further into this and re-evaluate this establishment to prevent future disappointments and disgruntled guests.
