********** advertising and dishonest!
I did a booking for my retired folks in Cape Town and the place was disgusting. They had checked out after staying just one night. And it was most frustrating that I could not get a hold of anyone at booking.com. And we had paid R6000 in total
These were the issues I eventually raised with booking.com
1. The place is not even in Century City as advertised on booking.com. It is in Sandrift which is not a nice area. Century City is the place we wanted to book in. This is booking.com's responsibility as it is unacceptable that the proper checks have not been done. This is actually ********** and false information
2. We were unable to get a hold of the host at all. The number is unreachable. It is only via text. And when i raised this on the booking assistant, i got the same response, that the host is unreachable. How is this a proper service??
3. The pictures were nothing like the place. It was disgusting. The toilet was horrid and uncleaned. The shower door was broken. The main bedroom window was broken and they did not even feel safe to sleep in it. The water was brown. There were no towels. There were ****roaches. The general feel of the place was dirty. This is absolutely unacceptable and surely booking.com screens these things beforehand before allowing them to supply services on behalf of them. This is a reputational risk and unacceptable.
4. We now have to find alternate accommodation and it most certainly will not be through booking.com.
The response that I got from booking.com was that they could only refund me R1100, even though I had to incur further costs to find alternative accommodation and their reasoning was because it was a low scoring place! I will never use them again. Unreliable and dishonest and **********
