Due Diligence not done by Booking.Com
I recently booked a holiday from the 23rd of Dec to the 04 Jan 25 on this site for accommodation in Cape Town. As per booking.com the accommodation contacted me to pay the 50% deposit which I did on the 06 August 2024. Later in October after I had paid the 50% I received notification from Booking.com that the accommodation was cancelled. I contacted the agent that was handling the booking, he promised me that it was the accommodations process. With that I received an email from the agent. I later received an invoice in November from the agent for the remainder of the amount and breakage fee. I paid for this on the 26th of November. My plane tickets were paid for I was set for my holiday. Closer to the date I contacted the agent for check in details and procedures: He responded and said I will get them soon, but to my surprise up until the 20th of December he kept saying he will send them but did not. I had to make alternative arrangements on the Sunday, as I was to be leaving to Cape Town on the Monday morning. My question to booking.com do they not vet and screen the agent that advertise these bookings on their site. I have booked previously with booking.com and did not encounter this unprofessional conduct. I have been back and forth with them from the 21st of December as I made them aware of my situation before I left for my holiday. They keep asking for bank proof of payments. I sent them invoice, communication and Proof of banking. I cannot tell you how many times and uploaded these documents. I have now opened a police case and my bank is investigating this ****.I have the agents details and his company details from the internet. I think this syndicate is big.
