Booking.com's great booking inconvenience.
Good day,
I made a booking through booking.com for the 5 December 2020 checking out on 6 December 2020 at Bamboo Nest Guest House with Confirmation number: ***. Upon check in, the guest house had no record of my booking therefore I was advised by booking.com to cancel that particular booking and referred me to a new booking at African Elephant Den with this confirmation number *** at a higher amount than the original amount I paid at Bamboo Nest Guest House. Yes the refund for Bamboo Nest Guest House was paid back into my credit card, however is the refund for African Elephant Den has not been done, as I had just discovered today that I need to send them the invoice so they can pay the difference between the two amounts. I acknowledge that booking .com is willing to take the responsibility to that effect.
The critical issues that I would like to raise is that, I had a booking in Orkney where my event was held. I had to take time off my event, sit on the phone to contact booking.com call centre, used my internet, time, and airtime to sort out that whole mess. By me taking time off my event to deal with the mess meant that I was loosing money while making phone calls and making a new booking. BOOKING.COM FAILS TO TAKE THAT FACTOR INTO CONSIDERATION.
The new booking at African Elephant Den meant that I had to pay the money that I did not have and not budgeted for, immediately, since I planned and made my original booking well in advance to avoid such inconvenience. I had to borrow money with interest from someone because the payment was needed immediately. BOOKING.COM FAILS TO TAKE THAT FACTOR INTO CONSIDERATION.
The original booking with Bamboo Nest Guest House was in Orkney where my event was held, the new booking was Klerksdorp. This means extra costs in petrol travelling from Orkney to Klerksdorp. BOOKING.COM FAILS TO TAKE THAT FACTOR INTO CONSIDERATION.
The level of inconvenience I was caused by booking.com and only to be refunded the difference between the two amounts is appalling to say the least. Booking.com needs to consider some kind of compensation other than the two refunds.
I trust this is i order.
Regards
