Booking.com taking money for properties that don't exsist leaving you stranded

I had made a booking on the booking.com at a property listed on their site. When I got to the address listed for the property I was told that no such unit exists and that it's a **** listing. The security guard went on to explain that we were not the 1st victims. Multiple people were **** by this property listed on Booking.com.

I contacted booking.com to let them know what had happened and to enquire about a refund. The booking.com agent told me there is nothing they can do and that I should contact the property that ****med me. No one could tell me about what vetting booking.com does on the properties they list on their site. Booking.com is refusing to take responsibility for a **** property listed on their website.
