Bad service
We planned to travel to Turkey this years but due to the Coronavirus and lockdown taking place in South Africa this was not possible. We made a booking through bookings.com for Hilton Garden Inn Konya for the 15th - 16th June, a non refundable booking. Due to the circumstances world wide, our international flights had been cancelled and our country went into lockdown as well as our travel destination(Turkey). We contacted bookings.com on NUMEROUS occasions to get Hilton Garden Inn Konya to waver the cancellation fee, or to give us an open voucher. We were then given instructions from bookings.com to get hold of the hotel. We contacted the hotel on numerous occasions and could not get management to assist us or any staff in the hotel could not assist us. After several costly calls to the Hotel we then managed to get hold of the manager Ebrahim two days prior to our check in. He then advised that he could do nothing for us and that we should speak to bookings.com. Spoke to bookings.com again they then tried to contact the Hotel, said they would sort out the problem but till now we have not received any feedback from the hotel as well as bookings.com. This is really unprofessional and unacceptable from both the Hotel and bookings.com as the current situation world wide was not predictable. Being in Hospitality we should not have received the run around from both the Hotel and bookings.com as this is unprofessional. Other hotels were booked in the same period of time and were refunded with no hassels and issues as they understood the current situation is beyond everyone's control and the reason for us not making our travel was beyond our control. We do understand the hotel was not a refundable, however due to the current situation a voucher or refund would be the correct process to go by.The service received from Mr Ebrahim was unacceptable for Hilton standards.
