Bad experience with Booking.com

On the 4th of February 2023 a day before my birthday, I booked a stay for the weekend at Saratoga complex and paid for it. There's was a work event I needed to attend at 5pm in fourways, therefore it was convenient. I was with my younger siblings and the yougest is only 13 years. We waited at the gate for about 2 hours only to be told that we will need to cancel because the owner isn't offering the place, however this meant we won't get any refund back. We spoke to the host and she said she'll get an alternative place for us but that never happened, instead she stopped taking my calls. We went to Douglas SAPS for safety while sorting out our own place. We eventually went to City Lodge Hotel for the night and paid R1650 and i attended the work function after 9:30 pm. We used ubers to go between these places another cost of +/- R300 unnecessary. The food we bought was spoilt and drinks were hot. Then we booked again now to celebrate my birthday Hotel Perte on Sunday the 5th. We have been inconvenienced, caused distress and financial constrains.
