Arendsnes fly fishing resort vs booking.com
We have been traveling local this month and saw a resort that looked amazing on the pictures but was priced very low. There were a few spots available so I booked and paid online. We got there to check in and was told we have an hour to fill out the survey for booking.com. Instead we went out and got back to the place and started a braai - immediately after our arrival before we even looked at anything inside in detail, my husband was forced to fill the survey with the manager standing over him showing him what to tick. My husband was amused by this but did it anyways since the manager insisted and it was already quite late and we needed to see to kids both under 3 years, and I’m pregnant.
The braai grill was dirty and they had nothing to give us to get it cleaned ourselves, my son ran around barefoot coz that’s what kids do in the bush but I found tons of glass pieces and cigarette stompies which I picked up myself before it causes any harm to the kids. My boy had to wear shoes at all times and my one year old girl had to sit in her stroller the whole time because there was even glass pieces outside the doorstep, when sweeping before we leave we swept glass out of the kids room.
The toilet was not flushing well and the toilet paper supp**** was previously wet and dried into cardboard texture.
We were advised that if we do not wash the dishes then our key deposit will be held for cleaning, yet the dishes had dust and sand in them before using. When I asked for dishwashing soap I was told to buy some.
I asked for the owner/manager and explained all the problems and he did not understand or try to assist in any way. He said that it’s booking.com that gave me that room, and that we have already filled the survey so I can’t complain now before leaving. He insisted that I should have told him about all the problems within the time of arrival. Yet he could have used my feedback to help his beautiful property to be more appropriate and successful in business.
I wonder if his gardener is a free worker or slave as it seems like a ****** place in my opinion. Instead of us having a fun family road trip it ended earlier with who is going to watch that the kids don’t get glass or stompies in their mouths and arguing about who is going to wash the dishes to get the key deposit back.
I’m not sure who’s to blame between the resort owner and booking.com, but it has been my very worst experience this month while running away from the city, we did not enjoy any bit and did not get to fish at that spot yet it’s perfect height for the kids. We lost all passion to continue our road trip after that, so we are spending our days off in the city instead. I won’t recommend this service if you looking for cheap accommodation.
