You are not covered in Full for PMB's with Bonitas!

My son was admitted to hospital - he was then diagnosed with a condition on the PMB list and had to get surgery (please note - this treatment he got was the recommended treatment). I used a Designated Service Provider and everything. Now I am being left with a stiff Co-Payment for this treatment/surgery! I am so disgusted with Bonitas! The related accounts weren't even paid in full (as they are supposed to). I will be taking this matter further to the Council of Medical Schemes!

I also spend 20min on the phone with your call center with an arrogant person According to the Council of Medical Scheme's - the following applies: I did use a DSP!!! Can my scheme make me pay a co-payment or levy on a PMB? No, your scheme cannot charge you a co-payment or levy on a PMB if you follow the scheme formulary and protocol. However, if your scheme appoints a Designated Service Provider (DSP) and you voluntarily use a different provider, your scheme may charge you the difference between the actual cost and what it would have paid if you had used the DSP or the percentage co-payment as registered in the scheme rules.

Cherry on the cake is my other child also had to have the same operation. I was able to negotiate to pay half the co payment so they can just operate on him. Dr said if we waited longer he could have gone deaf as his hearing was already affected! Again, this is a PMB!!!

This is not sorted out as yet! It will be sorted out if all related accounts to the PMBs has been paid! I have requested many times for feedback. The other issue related to this matter is - I did not have any other choice to use a Dr not on the list, as the Hospital on the Bonitas List did not have an ENT that is on Bonitas DSP list. I was forced to use a non dsp involuntary
