Waiver of waiting period and then imposed

<p>I joined Bonitas in April after completion of an online application in February. I disclosed my pregancy on the online application and when I had received no feedback from the med aid by end of the month I then called in and spoke to an agent Mr. Pryan Govender on the 3rd of March, query number: 030316QMWTVB. I asked Mr. Govender about the waiting period regarding pregnancy and he advised he would speak to his supervisor and upon his return advised the waiting period would be waivered/removed. The medical aid proceeded to pay for my 2 gynae visits and the gynae's office phone the med aid during my first consultation to enquire whether it's active. I requested authorisation for admission for delivery on the 28July and a provisional authorisation was provided. At no point during this time did the med aid tell me that they had imposed the waiting period. In September I then received an email indicating that the waiting period had been imposed due to my non-disclosure of the pregnancy, I made numerous phone calls and sent emails to clarify this with them until eventually I submitted a letter from the gynae comfirming my pregnancy as well as their application form which clearly states pregnancy was disclosed. I even requested that they listen to the recording with Mr. Govender of the 03/03/2016 where we discussed my pregnancy and the waiver herein. On the 20/09/2016 I received another emial from the med aid indicating that the pregnancy would still not be covered and the waiting period remains with no further explanation. I proceeded to phone to enquire on such and was told tha the med aid can impose this waiting period for a pre-existing condition however I had disclosed and their consultant who acts on behalf of the med aid advised that the waiting period would be waivered. This is both recorded in the notes from the call from that day and the call was also recorded. I feel that the med aid is using the waiting period discretion in an unfair manner as initially I was told it's waivered and now a month toward my due date they want to impose such. I have received no satisfactory resolution with the med aid as at this point I have no alternative towards my delivery as I had not been under the impression from the consultant that the waiting period was waivered.</p>
