very unhappy

Good day

I am with bonitas standard option.my son has adhd and I take him to a paediatric neurologist for check up and prescribing his medication.

However I went to this doctor as I was referred by a friend..

My problem today is I pay for my appointment in cash and have to submit to medical aid for refund or claim some money back. But now I can't get a refund BECAUSE I DIDNT GET AN REFERRAL LETTER FROM MY GP??

So does that mean for every specialist on this medical aid, I have to pay an consultation fee at doctor, my doctor HAS TO REFER ME and then I will get an refund?

I hope someone from bonitas can clear this up for me as I am very troubled

Phoned the call center again,it was confirmed by the agent that I need a doctor referral to get my refund oif I go to any specialist and it's been introduced from this year only so why wasn't the members notified of such changes? It's no problem going to a specialist without a doctor referral but to claim from the medical aid in would need a doctor referral letter??? Please explain this situation to me.
