Unprofessional / *********** Consultants

Good day,

To whom it may concern:

I have decided to log a complaint directly with Bonitas rather than a public display route of using various platforms on SOCIAL media as well contacting the Medical Board.

I would like to believe that all queries, complaints or concerns are treated with respect and urgency

My parents had joined Bonitas BONCAP medical aid in June 2016 ( NB - THE PROCESS WAS ONE THAT had taken a bitter 8 months to have the membership approved, since there was constant battles with various consultants at Bonitas, nevertheless we still proceeded with the application AND assumed that the service would improve “ clearly NOT)

The benefit date as stated on the membership cards read the following : 01/09/2016

On the 02/09/2016 I had called into the Bonitas contact centre on behalf of my parents.

I spoke to Tarryn ,whom had provided good customer services and answered my questions. She had advised that my parents can use the medical aid ,since benefit date is the 01/09/2016 ,however this excluded the pre-existing conditions which we are aware off. ( We are literate individuals and clearly understand T&Cs!

It was unfortunate that my dad had been ill over the last week and was in need of medical attention, hence the reason for the call on the 02/09/2016 to confirm if we can now use the hospital benefits.

Tarryn advised that we can go to casualty at Mt Edgecombe Life Hospital and there would be no issues.

On the 05/09/2016,my parents and myself visited the Mt Edgecombe Life Hospital to get my dad medical attention that he requires.

The admissions consultant at the hospital called Bonitas in my presence to obtain authorisation for the visit ,tests etc.

The consultant that had assisted then was JACKEE who blatantly advised the hospital admissions that Mr Naicker does not have any benefits ,he needs to wait for 12 months to pass in order to use the medical aid.

She was adamant and refused to assist any further since the members did not have benefits due to the existing medical conditions.

Now this is ludicrous ,we have two consultants from Bonitas providing two different sets of information yet it is the same company.

I then paid for all the procedures out of my OWN pocket ,doctors consult, xrays, bloods etc ( amounted to over R2000.00)

Once we received the results from the doctor he advised that my dad needs to be admitted to hospital immediately.

I then called BONITAS from my MOBILE PHONE , I then spoke to Janette Gentle who then informed me that my dad can be admitted however excluding existing conditions.

The MOBILE call continued for over 25minutes ,whereby authorisation was then received.

I requested Janette to call me back, however she advised that she cannot.

I have never dealt with such incompetence before, during a stressful time you would expect good customer service to help relieve some stress but BONITAS failed my family and I.

If no contact is made within the next 24 hours I will take this further.

Clearly they missed th e deadline - hence the reason for hello peter
