Unpaid Ampath tests

Dr sent me for bloodtests. Received accounts with outstanding amounts to Ampath. Bonitas refuse to pay because I was not booked into hospital for the tests and one test code is repeated 4 times. What do I as patient know which tests will b done and covered? I was told to now phone my Dr. For an authorization letter that I must pay him for. Should the Dr not supp**** me with that letter during consultation? Which he got pd for? Why put this strain on a member who all she knows is being sent for bloodtests?

Thank u for responding. Test codes were: 4652,4653,3934. I am really so upset. How am I as member supposed to know that a motivation letter must accompany the Dr's referral to bloodtests. Together with employees contribution, pay almost R8000 per month for medical aid for me and my husband. Then when fet burdened with bloodtest account and codes we have no knowledge off. Why is the already sick, stressed member burdened with this? There was no communication prior from Dr nor ampath explaining that I have to pay before they took my blood. It's wrong to to burden loyal paying members of over over 20 years with pathology codes that should have been motivated by the Dr when setting first place, only to b charged for a letter afterwards.
