Think twice

This is really disappointing from supposedly the best medial aid in SA

I have been trying to sort out my chronic medicine for months and they have been taking the money from my benefit booster. Sending emails is just a waist of time, even responses from their management team does not get resolved.

As long as they can debit your account monthly don't really seem to be concerned with you as the customer at all.

This is the email received from Bonitas Management team and I am disgusted!!!

Please note that the following is applicable on the Bonitas Primary Select option for the 2023 benefit year.

The Bonitas Primary Select option makes use of the Bonitas PMB Formulary C from Rand one and a 40% co-payment is applicable for non-formulary medication.

You will be able to access the formulary online, via Medscheme's Website (www.medscheme.com), by using the following pathway: Products and Services > Pharmacy Benefit Management > Chronic Medicine Management, and then by clicking on the relevant formulary (listed on the right hand side of the last webpage).

Medication approved from the chronic benefit may attract co-payments (generic or out-of-formulary) since approval does not necessarily imply that the product would be reimbursed in full. As always, payment of medication is subject to fund rules, available limits and clinical guidelines, as amended from time to time

The DSP (Designated Service Provider) override request has been declined by Fund Management. The DSP remains Pharmacy Direct.

You may discuss the options with the Fund Client Services department should you require information regarding upgrading to the Bonitas Standard option. This option may make use of the network pharmacies while you have chronic medicine benefit limits available.

The disease authorisation for Hypertension has been backdated to the 01/01/2023.

The Medication Mizart 80mg 30 tablets monthly has a 40% out-of-formulary co-payment. You will not be charged a 40% non-DSP co-payment and a 40% out-of-formulary co-payment. Only the one co-payment will apply.

The medication Amloc 5mg 30 tablets monthly has a 40% non-DSP co-payment only.

Kindly advise us should you require the claims from the acute/savings to be re-processed from the chronic medicine benefit. Please keep in mind that the co-payments above will apply and you would need to pay this directly to your dispensing pharmacy, should you request for the re-processing of the below:

29/01/2023 - EDI***
04/03/2023 - EDI***
30/03/2023 - EDI***
27/04/2023 - EDI***
21/05/2023 - EDI***

I was contacted on the 25th of July and never received feedback again.

The representative informed me that I had to use your online pharmacy, the same one that has a 1.58 out of 5 score on hello peter. Does Bonita's really NOT care for its members, I just want to go to Bonita's in network pharmacy and go to collect my medicine and not pay a 40% co payment. This is something so easy you are making difficult.

As for the out-of-formulary tablet I am still waiting for written proof that this tablet is not a genetic medicine. Bonita's rather wants to change my PBM medicine to suite their needs and not actually except that this is currently working for my condition they rather want to experiment to see if they cant get me on a cheaper tablet. Because +-R200 for 30 tablets is way to expensive.

So NO Bonita's I am still not happy, you can correspond via email because I don't want to talk to your team on the phone!
