They want me to be blind before I they consider me

I recently found out that I have keratoconus, and had to see a specialist to confirm that it was as my optometrist had suspected.<br> <br> There are four main stages to treating keratoconus, 1.Glasses, 2.Contact Lenses, 3.Cross Linking, 4.Corneal Transplant.<br> <br> After seeing the Ophthalmologist and did all the test he said that I would need to have cross linking procedure as my eye had passed the stage of me just getting glasses or contact lenses, and I then made a request with my medical aid for them to be able to cover it, after numerous times of calling and confirming and all the back and forth, they declined my procedure as because I'm told that there is no sign of progression.<br> <br> So basically my medical aid want me to further lose my sight before they can pay out for my procedure, who know how rapid that could be, if it becomes rapid to the point of me going blind will they then pay for a corneal graft implant?<br> <br> Not very pleased with the service I'm receiving during my time of distress.<br> <br> They want me to be blind before I they consider me.
