THE MOST PATHETIC MEDICAL AID SERVICE EVER!!!

On the 21th August 2020 after my 3rd treatment, my doctor decided that the injry to my shoulder was so severe that I needed surgery. We set a date of 2nd September 2020. On the same day, I requested authorisation from my medical aid Bonitas. On the 28th August, at least 5 follow-up calls later, I received an authorization letter notably stating that 2 of the procedure codes had been declined - notably including the most expensive one - but the most important one according to my doctor. Another 5 call later and on the 9th September I forwarded a motivation from my doctor stating the importance of these codes to the procedure. More days past and a handful of enquiry calls made and on the 18th September I received confirmation that all the codes have now been authorised. The operation was then set for the 2nd October. On the 22nd September, I requested the date on the authorization letter be changed from the original date of the 2nd September to the new date of 2nd October. I didn't hear from them again and after a week I called again requesting this change - being less than 3 days to the operation. I was told that it will be sent immediately. About 30 minutes later I received the letter, but now the same codes were once again declined. Again, I call. I am then told that the codes were declined again after being approved a week earlier. So literally hours before the operation, having made all the work and personal arrangements and having gone through all the frustration and having been in excruciating pain all this time, I am told this. I am also told that there is no way they can allow me to speak to a senior person and that there is nothing that can be done further. I am left to pay R9k of a R21k operation, having paid every cent of my medical aid contribution, every month, even during lockdown when my salary was only on 40%. It is by far the most pathetic service that I have EVER received. Please steer away from them when selecting a medical aid people.
