The Bonitas Diabetes Management Programme is a FARCE and doses not has members interests at heart

I am on the Diabetes Care Program. Hence I find it absurd that my claim for a sensor by my Doctor to understand why my sugar was poorly controlled was rejected. My doctor requested a sensor as part of an investigation of my diabetes control. How then is this rejected by BONITAS for a Type 1 Diabetic on Insulin and who is on The Bonitas Diabetes Management programme which is supposed to help members with diabetes better understand this long-term condition and empowers them to make the right decisions to stay healthy. They claim that as most diabetics have at least one other chronic condition, the programme offers a personalised care plan to ensure that your specific needs are taken into account. The care plan will provide cover for the tests required for the management of diabetes as well as your other chronic conditions. It offers access to specialised diabetes doctors, dieticians, podiatrists and diabetic educators to allow you to effectively manage your diabetes. In addition, you will have access to a dedicated Health Coach to answer any questions you may have. IRONICALLY when someone who is supposed to be cared for on The Bonitas Diabetes Management Programme requires a tool to investigate why his condition is showing poor control it is REJECTED as an EXCLUSION. Is The Bonitas Diabetes Management Programme just window dressing. If it was not a mission to move medical aids I would have left Bonitas a long time ago.

Dear Bonitas, I am replying privately but will publicise my sentiments shortly as I am disturbed that nobody at Bonitas seems to understand my query. I am going to detail it here as if I am talking to a Grade 1 person. My name is Dr Abdullah Ali Khan, my ID Number is ********** 171086 and I am on the Bonitas Standard Plan ********** 7787. I am a Type 1 Diabetic on The Bonitas Diabetes Management Programme. I HAVE A GLUCOMETER so I am NOT asking you to pay for one. Being on The Bonitas Diabetes Management Programme I expect that Bonitas cares about my well being and my control of my diabetes. My doctor was unhappy with my control when I saw him on 1st August 2018 and said he needs to investigate which requires a sensor that takes blood sugar readings every minute for 2 weeks to be placed on my arm. This is part of his INVESTIGATION into my well being and control. BONITAS REFUSED TO PAY SAYING IT WAS A SCHEME EXCLUSION. I paid using my CREDIT CARD. I am now asking the Bonitas Diabetes Management Programme to explain to me how they can refuse such a request when it is intended to correct my control. I would like a SENIOR BONITAS representative to contact me on ********** 416 to discuss as the people that have been talking to me DON'T have a clue. See below response from BONITAS - Dear Dr. Abdullah Ali Khan, Thank you for your email dated 06 August 2018 on query number 060818QYHJSH. As per our telephone conversation, kindly be advised that claim for Parklands Hospital Dispensary for the service dated 01/08/2018, with an amount of R 787.99 was correctly rejected as Sensor is a scheme exclusion. Should you require any further information, please contact customer services on ***or email us at ********** Please update your personal details on a regular basis to ensure that you receive the latest updates from Bonitas. Best Wishes, Dorah Maboe. Bonitas obviously does not understand my concern and 3-days later all I get is that the claim is reprocessed and rejected again. BONITAS REALLY DOES NOT UNDERSTAND MEDICAL MATTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
