STAY Away from Useless Bonitas

Bonitas has the worst customer service I have ever seen. First got an email in June 2025 that there is a refund due of 17000 on my fathers medical aid. Since then it was me emailing and bonitas ignoring my emails then taking months to reply. Finally got hold of someone in that useless finance department only to be ignored again. The finance department finally came back and said they need to do a Recon to see why this money is due to my father. Couple months passed again I phoned for the 100th time and finally the finance lady admitted that in these couple of months no recon was done and the person that was "supposedly" doing the Recon quit. More time passed and finally just got an email that said refund due is R2500 no explanation nothing of how the amount went from 17k to R2500. Took another couple of weeks of emails and phone calls to just get this explanation below. Email was sent in Feb 2026 the refund of R2500 will be due in 7 to 10 working days NO refund has been paid yet. Sending emails and phoning is just pointless as you cant be put through to the finance department and no one can get hold of the finance department. I have used the so called escalation department that has so far not been able to escalate anything and nothing comes from it.

We appreciate your taking the time to get in touch with the Bonitas family regarding your email.

According to our records your enquiry has been attended to on query number 090126QB2X0G.

Please be advised that the memberżs subsidy has now been loaded correctly, effective from 2022. Previously, the subsidies were not loaded, which resulted in the member reflecting a credit balance of approximately R17,000.

We have since corrected the subsidy information. Due to the subsidies not being loaded, member contributions were not raised for a few months, while the member continued making contribution payments.

As a result of the correction, the correct credit amount due to the member is R2,500.

Kindly note that once the system updates, this credit amount will be refunded to the member accordingly. . The refund will take 7 to 10 working days to be processed
