My grandad has a medical aid with bonitas and in the last year they've changed his debit order amount 3 times. He gets a state grand of 1400 a month and his monthly payments were set at 660. He was then debited for an amount of 1400 because he didnt confirm his monthly income. Even though no correspondence was used to ask for him to confirmthe. The matter was then sorted out and bonitas determined that 660 was too much and reduced it to 330. Last month we has again debited for 1600 and when we called to ask why, the call centre agent says documents are outstanding and thus he has been placed on higher income bracket. The call centre agent shifted blame on finance department and offered zero assistance and understanding. She insisted I should just hand in the required documents so they can work on it. What guarantee do I have that in 3 months time the same thing doesn't occur? It's frustrating to sit on the phone for over an hour and get nowhere. To date I have yet to speak to somebody who can take responsibility for this shoddy service. I believe bonitas simply tries their luck and debits more than they should in the hope that the consumer doesnt notice.
