Robbing the poor

<p>Bonitas Medical Aid has suspended my mother's membership because they cannot admit their own mistakes.</p> <p>Bonitas requested my mother to confirm her income before the end of December 2016 to ensure that her 2017 contribution is calculated correctly according to her income. All the necessary documents were submitted by the end of December, but Bonitas adjusted her premium to TRIPLE of what she used to pay. Obviously it is impossible to pay that premium (due to their error), so they just suspend the membership and close the query after numerous attempts to have it rectified.</p> <p>We have sent them all the proof of submission and confirmation of receipt, even the email confirming the due dates, but they continue to say that the due date was sooner and that the premium will not be adjusted.</p> <p>Seriously? We have an email from Bonitas confirming which documents were needed and by when and they still refuse to rectify their mistake!!</p> <p>My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last week and now cannot get the life saving treatment she needs because Bonitas is refusing to correct their mistakes.</p> <p>I will be taking this matter to the Council for Medical Schemes, but I just want the public to know how Bonitas treats their members - THEY DON'T CARE!!!</p>
