Refusal to pay newborn costs

Our son was born on the 12th of Feb 2023. We received his birth certificate on the 22nd of Feb. As this is quite a busy time after having a new born and a 2 year old and I was still having to work, I did not have time to register him on the medical aid right away.

I did however see on the member's guide that you have 30 days to register a new born.

I sent in the completed application form with all the documents on the 13th of march, which, taking into account that Feb only has 28 days, this was on day 29 after his birth and still within the 30 days as per Bonitas.

They then only registered him from the 1st of March and are now refusing to pay for any costs before that.

I am disgusted that they would do this to a client who always pays on time and they were aware that we were having a baby.

I this the way they treat clients to save some money?

I think i will be actively be looking for another Medical aid to cover my family.
