Once again, my mother is facing issues with Bonitas. She has been a member of the scheme for a number of years now. In January, her premiums sky rocketed and more than double her usual premium was debited from her account. It was then after MANY enquiries communicated that she needed to resend her proof of income/pension to Bonitas to put her on the correct policy. Very disappointing that this information was not communicated as I would have ensured that Bonitas had all the information required.

Since January, I have paid her premiums myself as I advised her to stop her direct debit order in case your company ever decided to deduct inflated sums of money from her account. As a pensioner she can ill afford to have her budget out of sync with such a huge amount.

Since joining the scheme, she has hardly made any claims. Her premiums are up to date (I paid her fourth instalment for the year (April) myself this morning)

Over a week ago she was given a script by her doctor and was told at the pharmacy that the script was rejected by the medical aid. Again at her own expense she has been trying to contact Bonitas to find out why this is the case (this is a repeat script and has been covered in the past). Having to pay out of her pocket and budget once again. She has had several generic emails (auto responses) and when someone got back to her, she was told that she had a three month waiting period.

How is it possible that a three month waiting period is imposed when she has been a member of your scheme for much, much longer than this????

She is sitting out of pocket this month and not getting any answers. I have a copy of the invoice and receipt that was paid to the pharmacist and I demand that this gets paid back to her immediately. I also have proof of payment from my own bank account of all of the payments that I have made for her.

This is not on! Especially treating pensioners with such little care.

Your company once again proves to be unhelpful, negligent, unprofessional and inefficient. I have my whole family on plan with your company and I am seriously considering moving all of my policies to a more competent medical aid!

An automated response to placeate the customer and no follow up from there!
Shocking. Despite calls and emails from both my and my mothers email address we are no closer to sloving the problem. I have produced proof of the payment that my mother had to make on medicatation that was covered in the past. In the past year she has visited the doctor once and had two prescriptions filled (probably a total of less that R800). Yet, every month we pay this account only to be told that she is on a three month waiting period when she has been a member of the scheme for much longer than that.
I want answers and a refund TODAY. Please call my mother directly to discuss this or email me for further information. I am in meetings during the day but will be happy to forward proof of payments, etc.
