Poorly managed Bonitas medical Fund

The benefit allocation on the Bonitas medical fund is deteriorating year-on-year. We are a family of 4, fairly healthy with no serious health conditions. We never ran out of general benefits (doctors and medication) before. This year, Aug 2026, there were no benefits left to cover my daughter's antibiotic. The first antibiotic script for her for the year. I queried this with Bonitas and was told that the sub-limit for ALL medication (prescribed and OTC), was R6990 for our family. That means, R145 per member per month, while the membership fee amounts to more than R14 000 per month. What a joke. Time to make a change I guess.
