PMB emergency status

I am writing this review in absolute despair and anger at the complete lack of care and professionalism from Bonitas Medical Aid. I have a booked emergency surgery for this coming weekend due to a critical, deteriorating condition. My specialist submitted a motivation letter a week ago outlining the extreme urgency. The Situation: I am sitting with a lame leg, absolutely no control of my bladder (having to wear pads), and my bowels are failing (****y). This is a textbook emergency, yet Bonitas has kept my pre-authorisation as "PENDING" for a full week. My Questions to Bonitas: Does a member have to die or be permanently paralyzed for you to deem a surgery "urgent"? Why do I pay thousands in monthly contributions just to be ignored when I need care the most? Every time I call, I get the same indifferent response: "It’s still pending." My surgeon cannot operate without the code, and my health is rapidly deteriorating while you hold my life in your hands. This is not just poor service; it is gross negligence. Do not trust this scheme with your life or your health. Case/Ref Number: [Insert your ref:number Bon ***4 Member Name: A van der Westhuizen
