Pay a while for terminated dependents.

My daughter who was covered as an adult dependent on my husband's Bonitas medical aid recently got married and app**** to transfer to her new husband's medical aid from 1st June. There was a slight delay in obtaining the confirmation that she had been accepted by the new medical aid and understandably we did not want to terminate her from Bonitas until we obtained that confirmation. So on 15th June I notified Bonitas of the termination and was advised that a full calendar month's notice is required to process a termination.

In this digital age this seems excessive. it means that we will pay double premiums for two months and I wonder if had we failed to pay our premiums would have taken as long to cancel the cover? Normal short term insurers seem capable of terminating cover on the effective date so why not medical aids.
