Only interested in penalty

I have joined them and a day later I have cancelled. They want me to pay penalties because I did not have a medical after the age of 35. What a joke, when I told the lady is it my fault that I have worked for someone that provide medical, she had the audacity to tell me that you do not need to work for someone to have an medical, yeah right if she knew what my financial state was at that time. I explained to her that I did belong to a medical aid for the past 8 years, but according to them it is law to charge a penalty. Apparently, they are only there to make money and not interested in the well bean of the client. Very disappointed. I also explain to her that is not my fault that I was quoted incorrectly.
