Misleading adverti*****t

I am with Discovery. The increased my premium by R 2000 and I investigated to get a more affordable medical fund. Bonitas advertised a medical scheme Bonitas BonStart Plus for R3 422 per month. I app**** to become a member. I do not have any serious conditions, was in Hospital for 1 night over the period of 42 years while my wife of 39 years of marriage was in hospital when my son was born in 1986. Bonitas requested proof om membership of medical Funds for the past 42 yeas since 1980. It was compulsory to be a member of medical funds those days till 1994. I change work to join another company. I could only get information of the previous medical fund, and not those of 4+ years ago. They therefor gave a quote for membership at the amount of R 3422.50 plus penalty of R 1272.50 amounts to R 4 694.50. This is to my opinion misleading to advertise an amount, and add penalties for a person who were members for past 42 years. The adverti*****t, seems to me, is to attract people, and then add penalties to adjust the premium to a higher amount. Their explanation is that they need proof that I was a member of the medical fund for the past 42 years. WHO on earth keep such records for 42 years while the law expect to keep records for 5 years. Where should I file medical documents for such period of time. I would say that Bonitas must remove that adverti*****t. I wonder if they would be able to provide proof that there are people who got the the advertised premium of R 3 422. This kind of misleading ads must be brought under attention of a body who look after the consumer. They must remove those amounts because it is not what their actually charge the members.
