method of payment - urgent please

my father inlaw belongs to Bonitas medica aid and he has high blood pressure and his wife is diabetic and need her injections. medical aid has stopped their cover immediately because of not paying account. he belonged to the medical aid since 2001 and the work pays for the medical aid...for the first time since 2001 they say that he needs to pay the premium for December NOW before they reinstate his medical aid. NEVER have they done this before, the work usually pay the medical aid the balance in January. Why now? My father inlaw and mother inlaw is in their 60's....I feel this is unfair to them.
