Bonitas pre-authorized my wife for delivery and she delivered in a private hospital. The pre-authorization was verified by both the gyna and the hospital. For your own information you cannot be admitted for delivery without the hospital verifying with the medical aid if you have been authorized. The delivery claims were sent to them and to our surprise they rejected the all claims, claiming that we did not reach the number of months needed stated in a certain clause. So in short Bonitas left us with a R40,000 debt that we could have easily avoided by going to a public hospitals yet it was clearly their problem not ours.
I do'nt know if they expect us (clients) to go and educate their employees of their policies that we do'nt know.
