Is This Not Chronic

Approximately 18 months ago my mother (90) was hospitalized with pneumonia and it was then discovered that she could no longer swallow and so a Peg was inserted into her tummy and is being fed every 3 hrs this way ever since. The food costs R1,418 fortnightly and Bonitas has refused to pay for this food even though I insist that it should be viewed as chronic as without being fed she will not survive. (1) As my mother has alzheimers she keeps pulling out this peg and has been hospitalized twice since original insertion. Bonitas has paid for both these procedures and all hospital bills but this is going to keep on happening and Bonitas will have to keep on paying. The doctor has come up with a fantastic solution. There is a new peg called a Mickey which is specifically used for alzheimers patients. The Mickey cannot be pulled out and is so good that kids that require this can even swim and lead active lives. The Mickey costs R14,000 and is a ONCE OFF - cannot come out accidentally nor accidentally. I have app**** for Bonitas to pay for this procedure in May and only today in November have they said that they will not pay for this procedure. I don't understand their logic - is a once off payment of R14,000 not better than a hospital stay (3 days) to have a new peg inserted - must cost more than R14,000 per time. Also why cannot Bonitas not pay for her food - surely this is chronic - without the food she will not survive. I hope that Bonitas decides to pay for my mother's food and her new peg.
