Hospital Authorization Issues

I had to have my son admitted today through the pediatrician (with a referral letter from the GP) because he has been sick for about 3 weeks. I had him at the GP and the ENT (for which I paid cash because Bonitas has so many auths thats needed for anything beforehand). He is couching so bad at night that he starts to suffocate. Last night was the worst and we thought he was really going to suffocate as he turned blue and an artery even burst in his one eye because of the pressure. Bonitas doesn't want to give hospital authorization even though my child could die if we are at home during the night. This is unacceptable and I don't understand why pre-auth is required for every single thing, the medical is not present in life threatening situations, how can they devide that it is not necessary?

They eventually approved the stay for 1 day but I find this completely unacceptable as someone could suffer from serious illnesses but Bonitas can still decide whether it's serious enough or not for them. Why in the he'll do we have a full medical aid then?????

I have been a valued customer for many years but am now seriously considering moving to another medical aid with less hassles and issues. One that actually really cares about their customers/patients.
