Extremely Disappointing Service from Bonitas – Incorrect Information and Unnecessary Emotional Distress!

I am extremely disappointed and upset by the service received from Bonitas, particularly from a consultant named Khanyisa.

Khanyisa explicitly informed me that my BonPrime medical aid option does NOT cover elective Caesarean sections, including hospital admission, theatre costs, anaesthetist fees or any associated expenses.

As an expectant mother, this news caused tremendous emotional distress, anxiety and financial concern for both my husband and me. We were left believing we would have to personally fund the entire birth of our child.

However, after making further enquiries, another Bonitas consultant confirmed that Caesarean sections are indeed covered under BonPrime! To make matters worse, my husband received two contradictory pre-authorisation notifications, one stating that authorisation was pending and another stating that treatment had been authorised.

How can Bonitas provide such conflicting information about something as important as childbirth? Are consultants not properly trained or equipped to provide accurate information regarding members' benefits?

The unnecessary stress this has caused my husband and me is completely unacceptable, particularly during pregnancy.

I expect Bonitas to investigate the information provided by Khanyisa, issue a formal apology and provide immediate written confirmation of my Caesarean section coverage and authorisation status.

Medical aid members deserve accurate information, professionalism and peace of mind, not unnecessary anxiety caused by contradictory advice!
