Exclusion of post operative wound dressings

In December 2023 I underwent surgery to remove a lipoma from my hand, was required and instructed by the surgeon to clean and dress the wound, which was about 6 cm long, daily and prevent dirt or water entering the wound site to prevent infection for aperiod of 2 weeks This required me to purchase - Antiseptic ointment eg betadine - Wound gauze dressings - Opsite post op wound covering which amounted to a cost in excess of R1000, for which I had to pay in cash as this is an exclusion by Bonitas

Although all other medication ie. antibiotics and pain medication is covered, my view is this is an oversight in the situation that a person undergoes surgery but has to pay from their own funds for their post operative care items such as wound dressings which are absolute necessity to prevent infection of the wound site.
