Ex Gratia (Bonitas medical aid fund)

Hi I have read a previous comment about bonitas and thought I should share my experience. My husband was diagnosed with a severe case of crohns desease last year after being treated for ulcerative colitis for 3 years prior, this was a mistake on the doctors part but nevertheless...He was put on treatment and and after the the first month he reacted negatively to the treatment, he has been in and out of theatre for months doctors are battling to get his condition to a state of remission. After further investigation Doctors came to a conclusion that the only treatment that might work for him is revelex and app**** to the medical aid for this treatment . After several attempts they have declined it. It has been months that doctors have tried to get forms from Bonitas to apply for ex gratia funding Bonitas has not assisted them with this. My husband approached them himself and still they cannot assist us with this. I cannot help to think that this is a tactical response from Bonitas to get the member to rather up their plan to a plan that would cover for the treatment instead of assisting with this application.
