Don't join Bonitas Medical Fund.

Do not join Bonitas. I have been with them for a while. On 31 December, I was suffering with severe stomach cramps and vomiting. I did a virtual call with a doctor and was advised to see a doctor. I contacted Bonitas and was told to go to Netcare N1. I asked if they are on the network and he told me they are. I asked if there will be shortfalls and the guy told me there won't be. I went there, saw a doctor. He decided to put me on 2 drips in the emergency room and took bloods to see if he could find the problem. I was there for about 5 hours on a drip. The bloods came back with no problems. The accounts for the doctor, Ampath and hospital was submitted to Bonitas. They rejected my claim, saying that the doctor and hospiral had not gotten authorisation. My medication of R2000.00 was also rejected. I explained the situation that I was in a bad way and they want to know nothing about it. They even rejected my hospital saying that my funds were used up. This was my first claim. I asked them what would have happened if i was near death, that said that authorisation was needed and they will not pay. I have canceled Bonitas and moved to Discovery. I know a few doctors and they have all told me that Bonitas one of the worse medical funds when it comes to paying. The one time I needed them, they refuse to pay. I paid them monthly and they rejected my only claim. It cost R4500.00. Bye bye bad Bonitas.
