Denied because of my age

I've been a client of Bonitas for more then 18 years. I'm not a ill person and bearly claim on my medical aid. My payments towards my medical aid is never late or overdue.

I've recently been advised by my Health care practitioner to go for a mammogram after lumps have been detected in my breasts.

Bonitas does not want to cover the scan due to the fact that I'm not 40 years old yet. This is really unacceptable. Why cant Bonitas not cover a scan as simple as a mammogram just because of my age. Is it not in my best interest as well as Bonitas interest if a possible cause of cancer can be detected early?

And what is all the breast cancer awareness campaign for is my own medical aid (Bonitas) doesn't even want to approve a mammogram
