<p>On the 6th of December 2016, I received communication from Bonitas that a 30% co-payment will be required if I utilise any of the 2 hospitals close to where I live (Flora or Wilgeheuwel). My wife is pregnant and her specialist (for the past 7 years) is at Flora clinic which is close to home. This now means that we would have to drive quite a distance to get to a hospital which is covered by Bonitas and my wife will have to find a new specialist. The other option, if we choose to make use of Flora is that we would now need to fork out anything in excess of R25 000 (as per confirmation from Flora) which we didn't budget for.</p> <p>The only way for us to avoid the co-payment is if we upgraded to a different plan. However, the cut off date to switch medical aid plans was the 30th of November and this notice was only sent on the 6th of December. Had Bonitas informed us sooner then we would have app**** to change our plan before the cut off date. Bonitas obviously were aware of what they were doing and decided to ***** the average person out there by taking premiums and not providing the service which we pay for. This is obviously ********* and pathetic from a medical aid company whose service has been drastically declining over the years. I urge anyone out there to rather join a reputable insurer like Discovery instead of joining Bonitas. It's better to pay a little extra and have peace of mind rather than being ****** of what you are entitled to.</p>
