Complete disregard for their memebers
My wife was, and still is, on a comprehensive medical aid plan with Bonitas. We did that specifically so that we wouldn't have to worry about any possible unforeseen medical emergencies.
My daughter was born on 23 February 2024 via emergency c-section. There were complications and she spent 4 days in the NICU for respiratory distress.
We proceeded to submit an application for her ID with Home Affairs, however, we only received the ID at a later stage.
All forms and necessary documentation were submitted by 2 April, only after which we were told that there is a 30-day limit to submit the documentation, the reason for which I am still not aware, or why this is so cast in stone. Although late, 2 April was only 9 days after this supposed deadline.
Bonitas now refuses to engage in discussion to try resolve the matter and simply ignores any attempt at communication, yet we continue to diligently pay the full monthly fee for their comprehensive plan.
Based in this experience, I would not recommend Bonitas to anyone exploring medical aid options. The lack of care, understanding, and complete disregard for us as paying members is unbelievable, particularly at a time that should be solely spent enjoying our new baby, not worrying about this sort of issue.
Thank you for notifying us of your complaint. We are so sorry to hear about this, we are glad that you brought this to our attention to resolve.
We will investigate this matter.
We appreciate your patience while we are resolving this query for you.
