Bonitas' shady conduct

I am very disappointed in the manner in which Bonitas resolves legitimate queries where they raid Saving on some occasions; and on other occassions, simply reject claims where claims are payable from the Savings, contrary to their own rules.

This is not a question of unavailability of savings but, seemingly, a deliberate attempt to frustrate members and service providers alike.

My first query, where I duly paid the co-payment for a CT scan to the service provider, and then Bonitas reflecting it as paid from my savings - contrary to their own rules - have still not been resolved satisfactory. They have been disingenuous in their selective and vague replies. Part of the problem is that you end up with 3 or 4 different agents handing parts of the same query - none of whom are actually interested in resolving the matter properly. The last agent had the audacity to ask me for details of my prior dealings with the other agents ... all of should be available to the agent directly if she merely checked the previous correspondence.

Now I have an Xray which has been rejected despite the fact that there is more than R8000 in savings available. According to their own rules, out of hospital Xrays are payable from the savings. In this case the Xray is R470.

It would seem that Bonitas post-Covid mandated strategy is doing as they please and in the manner they like with no regard to good service, their own rules or good governance.

To all Bonitas members - be sure to check your monthly statements, savings balances and claims meticilously, Bonitas is acting in bad faith.

I am astounded at how eloquently Bonitas can explain the fund rules with reference to the Xray invoice being rejected (the claim did not have a referring provider practice number). Yet to this day, they have failed to offer an acceptable explanation as to how and why they stuck their grubby hands into my savings to cover a co-payment for a CT scan (which was duly pre-authorised) and which co-payment was paid by me on the day of the scan in accordance with their fund rules. This they continue explaining as a "miscommunication". Sometimes it is best to admit that you made a mistake, rather than putting members through unnecessary drama. Imagine how often members unknowingly make double payments - directly to the service provider whilst Bonitas deducts the same fee from your savings.

Please be aware of Bonitas' business practices. There is no accountability within that organisations and their call centre agents are over for much needed training.
