Bonitas Refusal to Pay Full Prescribed Cancer Treatment Killed My Dad

On 30 October 2024, I wrote my first review about how Bonitas wouldn't pay for all the drugs required for my father's chemotherapy. This is an update (please read it for the full picture)

After my first review, Bonitas did contact me but still wouldn't pay or provide for all the necessary drugs. We decided as a family (based on Oncologist recommendation), to move to a medical aid that would help. His cancer worsened in the interim (To be fair, Bonitas continued to pay for the incomplete treatment in the 3 month waiting period).

This January he received the first treatment for the required treatment on the new medical aid, but it was too late. He had caught an infection from all that unresponsive chemo that Bonitas was willing to pay for. On the first day of treatment, there were complications due to the infection. He couldn't eat, was weak and gaunt. There were liters of fluid in his stomach and lungs. A few days later he died.

We spent so much time begging and threatening Bonitas to do the right thing that my father's condition had worse beyond return.

In my last post I promise to keep you updated, and this is it. Bonitas' refusal led to my father's death. Bonitas isn't worth anything. Warn your loved ones and colleagues. Bonitas is an ugly way to die. I saw it.
