BONITAS MEDICAL AID Inhumane treatment of loyal member

My wife and i have been members of Bonitas for 20 years and am on the Bon Classic option and am both in our late 70's. My wife had a mitral heart valve replacement done with open heart procedure 17 years ago and now requires mitral vlave replacement due to regurgitation and calcivication of the valve which would normally only last 10 years. Our cardilogist and surgeon who did the first valve replacent have motivated the valve in valve replacement via transcatherter procedure due to various health factors. 2 cardiac professors one in Capetown and the other in Sandton have concurred with our local cardiac specialist that my wife would not survive open heart surgery valve replacement yet it has taken 3 months of back and forth with Bonitas and the latest excuse for non authorization is that they don't approve the TYPE of mitral valve recommended by both speciliast professors but advise that they would authorize open heart valve replacement and not the TMVR procedure which is what all 4 consultants are recommending for my wife. BONITAS continually declines all efforts by the specialists and dont propose any solution as to the oe of valve they would approve so my advice to any person considering becoming a BONITAS member to consider their decision very carefully as their treatment of my wife has been insensitive and inhumane
