Bonitas Medical Aid - A total "*******" Do not join them unless you want non stop problems. Part 2

I wrote a review on hellopeter on the 25 April 18 regarding what a "*******" Bonitas Medical Aid was. The summary of this review was that approx 20 years ago I had part of my colon removed, with sever complications . Ever since than I have suffered with chronic diverticulitis which has become worse as I got older. I was hospitalized in March last year and 6 weeks later had a colonoscopy. I have been on medication ever since. Late last year the diverticulitis became much worse and I consulted my GP who prescribed stronger antibiotics and pain medication. As this also did not work I was referred to probably the top gatroentromologist ( specialist physician ) in KZN who sent me for a CT colonoscopy ( virtual colonoscopy). Although this was motivated by the specialist Bonitas "Standard Option" refused to pay the R3732,32 charged for this procedure. This despite the standard option allowing R24,860 for CT scans per family per year ( in and out of hospital) .

Because of the severe pain I decided to pay for the scan myself having already paid for my visit to the specialist as my "out of hospital funds" ( except GP visits) are already depleated .

I had the CT scan on the 11 April and it was sent to the the gatstroentromologist who advised me to contact my surgeon. I was admitted to hospital on the 15 April with acute diverticulitis. Still Bonitas refused to pay for the CT colonoscopy.

My hellopeter review was published on the 25 April and following this I got the first reasonable reply from Bonitas and I understood that they would effect payment to me . Unfortunately the person who rep**** to me advised that she would not be available after the 30 April but Marilyn Herron would take over my case, but I heard nothing further. On trying to phone Marilyn Herron at Bonitas I was informed by Bonitas that she was " back office" and they could not give me her phone number or email address.

Since this date R16,52 cents ( an insult to me) has been paid to the service provider and Bonitas have still refused to pay the full amount. This is despite 63 e mails to Bonitas, where I even offered to visit a specialist of their choice at their cost.

What really disappoints and worries me if how Bonitas can overrule the motivation supp**** by a top gastroentromologist . How do they know better.?? Do they care about their members health ?? This is a medical aid who can afford to sponsor things like the Comrades Marathon to get good publicity but have no end of poor reviews on hellopeter.

As a pensioner I have no say in what medical aid I belong to, if I did it would not be Bonitas and I really recommend anyone who has a choice to not to belong to this "*******" organisation who calls themselves a medical aid.
