BONITAS MEDICAL AID

I have been a member of Liberty med scheme since 2003. They have now merged with Bonitas which came into effect from 1 January 2017. I have experienced endless problems with them. First of all they do not have the medication which my cardiologist wants me to take. They want to give me a generic which is fine but for the one tablet they do not have a substitute. the other tablet I have to either take one with a 2% less salt content or pay R2,63 per month.

Secondly, after much delay they promised to deliver my tablets either on Thursday 2 Feruary orFriday 3 February. None of which has happened.

I have tried to get hold of the at Pharmacy Direct but you wait for ages on the phone and eventually you get told the voiceline is full and cannot speak to an agent. I then tried SEVERAL TIMES to get hold of someone at call centre and when I explained my predicament I was put throught to "medscheme - your call is important to us. AGAIN nobody takes the call and you can wait forever on the line. I waited for up to 10 minutes and put the phone down.

When I was with Liberty I never experience ANY of these problems. They are a first class medical aid but Im sorry to say that Bonitas is at the bottom end of the scale as far as medical aids are concerned.

With service like this it forces a member to look for another medical aid and be penalised by having a 3 month waiting period which is totally unfair.

I have a broker who is supposed to be helping me but he is just not interested to help me sort out this problem.

The medication which I must take for blood pressure is not sweets. It is very serious heart medication and all Bonitas are doing is playing with ones life by wanting to give me inferior medication or putting me to extra expense and on top of that not delivering my meds. What kind of medical aid is this????? On the dot of the 1st of the month the premium was deducted from my account. For that they know how to do things properly but to help a member with serious quries regarding life support medication they are just not interested.

They need to seriously jack up their service. Bonitas has always had a bad name in the medical aid field and it seems that that has not changed.

JOAN
