Bonitas does NOT pay COVID tests even if referred by GP and being Positive!!!!
My whole family has had symptoms and COVID and I work in an environment where i am very exposed. My GP referred me and my son for COVID tests. They are refusing to pay 3 tests. 2 for me and 1 for my son. My 1 test and my son's test was even POSITIVE!!! They are very quick to comment on NEWS24 that they cover tests if referred by a health care provider regardless of the result... Well this is NOT the case! I quote "Bonitas would pay for Covid-19 diagnostic tests from the risk-benefit, whether the result was positive or negative, said Lee Callokoppen, Principle Officer of Bonitas Medical Fund.
This provided the member, who took the test, was referred by a healthcare practitioner for a Covid-19 test because they either showed symptoms of Covid-19 or were in contact with an individual with the virus, Callokoppen added. "
This is NOT the service we received.
Please URGENTLY settle our pathology bills as submitted!!!

16 Feb 2022, 07:31As per the following news article Lee Callokoppen specifically said in an interview that they will pay for COVID tests regardless of results. Bonitas NEVER mentioned that there is a limit to COVID tests. Please also provide us then with proof that you sent members communication as to the limit of COVID tests.

"The payment of the test in terms of a medical aid fund, boils down to the referral by the healthcare practitioner who will determine whether a test is necessary, and based on this, Bonitas will pay for the test regardless of whether it is negative or positive," he said.
When will Bonitas members not be covered for a Covid-19 test?
However, Bonitas would not pay for the Covid-19 test in instances where members were testing without cause, when they have not been referred, displayed no symptoms or were not in contact with a Covid-19 positive case, Callokoppen added.
Thus, as long as the Bonitas member had been deemed by the healthcare practitioner as requiring a test, then the fund would pay, regardless of the results, he said”
