BONITAS ARE ONLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY

I joined Bonitas Medical aid scheme in May 2019. I put my mother as a beneficiary. Bonitas has been charging me a late joiner fee.

I reviewed the late joiner fee with the scheme in 2021, & they reduced my late joiner to 5% of what I've been previously paying.

All this is after finding out that my mother has been a Bonitas client practically her whole life which the underwriters & their staff seemed to over-look.

Bonitas are blaming me for them not initially including my mother in the initial application so they will not take any further remedial action. When I asked their consultant if it was 100% my fault, he said no.

1. I want all the payments that I have made to Bonitas that is due to me since I started the scheme to be re-imbursed, as there is no reason for Bonitas to claim funds that on principal, ethically & based on their own company ethos & goodwill does not belong to them.

2. My mother has been a member of the Bonitas medical aid scheme her entire working career & apparently Bonitas didn't pick up that their own client has been a member with them for so long.

3. The matter since has been escalated to the finance department after the matter went to the underwriters. I had to follow up again after about 3 - 5 days when I was assured that they would get back to me only to be told that the scheme won't consider taking this matter forward.

I am in the process of approaching the Council for Medical Aid Schemes to try to deal with my issue & to find an amicable resolution.
