Hello Peter,

It will be highly appreciated if you can assist me resolve my problem with Bonitas Medical Aid. I am appalled at the responses and approach of Bonitas representatives in dealing with my issue. I have always maintained my medical aid contributions. I had my employment status changed since 2017, notwithstanding , and I mentioned that I was unemployed on the Income Verification forms which was emailed on the 25/10/2019 and resent on the 9/12/2019. I have unfortunately undergone major Heart operations in December after unsuccessful attempt to insert stent procedure. I had to pay a deposit of R6700 each to Milpark Clinic and Donald Gordan. I also had to make arrangement to make payment to Doctors for all bills that Bonitas refused to Pay. This has placed tremendous burden and strain on me and my finances rendering me in debt and with serious cash flow constraints. This was further exacerbated in January when Bonitas deducted incorrect amounts from our account just because I didn’t submit an affidavit to say I am unemployed. We alerted them to this fact by letter on the 28th March requesting urgent refund. Prompted by the fact that we were in desperate need of our funds we reversed 2 debit orders as way of adjustment to offset incorrect funds deducted. We are mindful and accept that our act resulted in us owing R876, which we are ready to redeem and have requested banking details to make immediate transfer. After getting on response I phoned them and they gave me their banking details and asked me to fill in new verification forms with my affidavit. I have paid the R876.00 on the 7th April and send them a proof of payment. To make matters worse we have been informed that Pharmacy direct, will not deliver my 8 year old sons Asthma pumps that he needs on daily bases due to Bonita suspension of our account. There was absolutely no need for this escalation on part of Bonitas. Our numerous attempts to resolve seems to fall on deaf ears. Our request to speak to management on several occasions has also been denied. It is unconscionable that Bonitas can act so insensitively. Please assist me resolve this issue, particularly in lieu of the fact that we are not in arrears and me and my son needs our medication urgently.
